The President of the Bulgarian National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva and her Serbian counterpart Maja Gojković discussed in Sofia the European perspective of Serbia, as well as Bulgaria’s role in the process of European integration of the Western Balkan countries. The President of the National Assembly of Serbia Maja Gojković thanked Bulgaria for placing the integration of the Western Balkan countries on the agenda during its rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Tsveta Karayancheva has assured Maja Gojković that Bulgaria will continue helping Serbia harmonize its legislation with the European law. The solution of the problems of the Bulgarian minority in Serbia goes through education, media and religion in mother tongue, Maja Gojković said. Tsveta Karayancheva and Maja Gojković agreed that connectivity between the infrastructures of the countries in the Balkans will contribute to the growth in the economy and tourism.

Later Maja Gojkovic met with President Rumen Radev who has pointed out that active political dialogue between Bulgaria and Serbia contributes to commodity exchange and tourism between the two countries and is indicative of that Bulgaria and Serbia pursue common objectives – historical reconciliation and a common future in the European Union.
