The summer time (daylight saving time) is a practice of setting the clocks forward 1 hour from standard time during the summer months, in order to make better use of natural daylight. It was introduced in Bulgaria on April 1, 1979.
A national survey held by the Bulgarian Council of Ministers shows that 96% of the Bulgarian citizens are against the seasonal adjustments of the clock. 51% of the surveyed nationals prefer the summer time (DST) and 38% of the Bulgarians voted in favor of the astronomical (winter) time.
