On November 23, the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky in Sofia marks its inauguration anniversary. It coincides with the day of the Assumption of Pious Prince St. Alexander Nevsky, patron of the Russian army during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878. The cathedral was built in memory of 200,000 warriors who died for the liberation of Bulgaria.
