Contrary to the requests of protesters from Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Lithuania, the European Parliament's transport committee voted in favour of a measure part of the new Mobility Package for vehicles to return to the country of origin within 4 weeks.
This decision is in contradiction with the compromise reached during the last Council of the European Union, when it was decided that just the driver needed to return but not the truck, BNR correspondent Angelina Piskova told reporters. When cabotage is concerned it was decided that drivers should return within 5-6 days to the country where the company was registered and remain there for 60 hours before going on a new trip.
In order for the voted amendments to take effect, they must pass through the European Parliament's plenary room.
