Sofia is hosting the first European forum to exchange experience related to the fight against African swine fever.

It takes place within the framework of the global strategy against the disease, with the participation of leading experts from the public sector and the veterinary services of Italy, Lithuania, Russia, and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The European Commission has been interested in the way Bulgaria is currently combating African swine fever. Unlike other countries affected by the disease, in Bulgaria it was detected at an early stage in both domestic pigs and wild boars and has been managed with minimal losses so far.
