Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov meets with his Swedish counterpart Peter Hultqvist in Bucharest

Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov met in Bucharest with his Swedish counterpart Peter Hultqvist within the frameworks of the informal meeting of the EU Defense Ministers. Minister Hultqvist respects the decision of the Bulgarian National Assembly to give a mandate of the Bulgarian cabinet to start negotiations with the US government on the acquisition of new F16 fighter aircraft for its Air Forces. Peter Hultqvist said his country was ready to start new talks with Bulgaria about possible sale of Swedish fighter jects Grippen in the future if necessary. Ministers Karakachanov and Hultqvist discussed the experience of the Kingdom of Sweden related to the restoration of the compulsory military service which, according to Krasimir Karakachanov is already on the agenda in Bulgaria as well.
