The Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo is the host of national celebrations dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the adoption of the Tarnovo Constitution. The Constitutional Court had an open meeting this evening in the Museum of the Bulgarian Revival and Constituent Assembly in the city. In the building, where 140 years ago the first Bulgarian constitution was adopted, President Rumen Radev held a speech to constitutional judges. The Bulgarian President pointed out that the Turnovo Constitution had strengthened the healthy grounds of Bulgarian statehood.

"The core of this law is the person and we have to stand up for the interests of people and liberty," President Rumen Radev pointed out. He expressed confidence that Bulgarian society these days was ready to hold meaningful debates that would provide answers to challenges of our time.
