BSP leader Kornelia Ninova explains why she withdrew her resignation

In a TV interview on Monday the Chairperson of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Kornelia Ninova explained that she withdrew her resignation at the extraordinary congress of the party on June 16, because she was convinced by party members to do so. Ninova believed that her resignation was a moral and worthy act and a way to take responsibility after the European elections. However, the circumstances after her resignation made her withdraw her resignation. In Kornelia Ninova’s words, the bargain for BSP started after my resignation. Different lobbies, groups and businessmen started to make plans to nominee a convenient candidate for a new leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. Secondly, I realized that my resignation from the position of a Chairperson of BSP may lead to a serious decline in the support for BSP before the local elections which will be held in the autumn of 2019. I had to choose between two options-to resign and let people in BSP master the party from within or swallow my ego and continue heading the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Kornelia Ninova went on to say.
