Serbia still deems position by Bulgarian PM on Kosovo to be unacceptable

At the meeting of the South-East European Cooperation Process in Sarajevo, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with his Serbian counterpart Ana Brnabic.

The two discussed the verbal tension between Belgrade and Sofia. Boyko Borissov assured Ana Brnabic that he is well-intentioned towards Serbia and is not interfering in its domestic affairs. The tension escalated after the emotional reaction by Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic to Boyko Borissov’s words that the new EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, who is Spanish, would not be upholding the national policy of Madrid on Kosovo, but the European policy instead.

Serbia’s Foreign Ministry reiterated, to Bulgaria’s ambassador to Belgrade Iva Kruleva, that Borissov’s statement was unacceptable because it was inaccurate and pertained to the most important question to any country – its territorial integrity.
