We are ready to react if the refugee pressure on the Bulgaria-Turkey border increases, Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov said. Minister Karakachanov commented the statement of Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan that he would open the borders if he does not receive money from the EU and added that he had already issued an order to the Bulgarian armed forces to be ready. Currently, the situation at the border is normal, but if migration pressure increases, up to 2,000 military men can be sent immediately to the region. They will have military equipment, including mobile wire fences, Minister Karakachanov explained.
