With 129 votes in favor, four against and one abstention, the Bulgarian Parliament adopted a declaration supporting the start of negotiations for EU membership of North Macedonia and Albania in the EU, but under certain conditions. With the document, MPs have called on the authorities in North Macedonia to implement effectively, voluntarily and without delay the bilateral Treaty on friendship, good neighborliness and cooperation of 2017. When it comes to Albania, it was called to guarantee to the maximum extent the rights of the Bulgarian national minority to study Bulgarian as a native language without any administrative obstacles.
