At an official ceremony in the Polish city of Wroclaw Bulgaria’s writer Georgi Gospodinov received the Angelus Award for his novel The Physics of Sorrow translated by Magdalena Pytlak. The novel was declared the best book of 2019 published in Polish language. Gospodinov is the first Bulgarian who receives the Angelus Award. The Angelus Central European Literature Award is a Polish international literary award established in 2006. The award is given annually for best prose books written in or translated into the Polish language by a living author originating from Central Europe.
