"There is a period of life that does not need to be spoiled by anxiety and responsibility. The way we wake up is important because we need to deal with a long day. Our childhood is our morning.” These are words by Finnish artist and writerTove Jansson, who created her illustrated stories for children back in 1945. In an attempt to keep her childhood, contemporary artist Heidi Efrat, also from Finland is playing with bright and catchy color combinations.

She is an artist and traveler and she has lived and worked in various places around the world. She spent her childhood in her native Finland, where she graduated from a design school there before she went to Germany and then to Israel, as well as the Philippines. She is currently living with her family in Bulgaria. As an artist, she is happy to be able to work anywhere, to be inspired by everything that surrounds her and to constantly reinvent herself. Her paintings are in various private collections in all the countries which her journey took her to. The latest exhibition by Heidi Efrat was opened a week ago in the "The House of Sofia" art space, where she presents 20 of her large-scale works, sized 100x120 cm, until January 15, 2020.

Heidi has her own view on colors and loves to layer them, giving great depth and shining to her paintings. She says that her works have hidden messages encoded, as the goal is keeping the viewer surprised, but by no means indifferent. Mixing colors is like a therapy for the soul, the artist says. She has her own recipe for making contemporary art. We take the canvas, then we add paints and then we mix them. To this we add some vague, subtle, distant idea. It is crucial to use a bright wave of our imagination. Everything seems to be in place, the colors are balanced and the painting is complete when the eyes looking at it are resting and the thought finds its way through the story created by the artist, Heidi Efrat says.
