The total number of nights spent in winter season 2018-2019 was over 4.7 million, which is 0.2% more on an annual basis. Foreigners spent almost 2 million nights, but a decline of 0.6% was registered. Bulgarians spent more than 2.7 million nights in the period, an increase of 0.8%. With an average occupancy rate of 40% in Europe in Bulgaria, the level is between 23% and 33%. This country is at the bottom of the EU chart in terms of growth in winter tourism. Poorer growth was reported only in Estonia, Italy and France.
