Wine tourism is a chance for Bulgaria to attract wealthy tourists, as well as an opportunity to show the country should not be perceived as a cheap alcohol destination. This is what Frenchman Guy Labeyrie, who has the goal of promoting Bulgaria as wine tourism destination in his own country, tells us.

He is from Bordeaux – world famous wine destination, but he settled down in Bulgaria because of his love for a Bulgarian woman. In this country he runs a tourism company, owns a winery and most of his guests are from France.

According to Guy Labeyrie, doing business in Bulgaria is neither easy, nor difficult:

Wine tours and tastings for small groups, picturesque landscapes, interesting meetings, history, anecdotes, architecture and good food. This is the formula used by Guy Labeyrie to attract French tourists to Bulgaria. But what do they know about this country?

According to Guy Labeyrie, who has been living in Plovdiv for 10 years, Bulgaria could successfully offer specialized tourism, such as wine tours and cultural tourism. According to him, people looking for specialized tours are people with much higher requirements. They would like to have different experiences in comparison to mass tourism. They want to get to know the culture, they look for places with a rich history and rely on luxury and perfect services in hotels and restaurants.
