Premier Borissov meets with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Palmer

Bulgaria and the USA continue to deepen bilateral cooperation within the frameworks of NATO and the EU, Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov and Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs with responsibility for the Western Balkans and the Aegean Matthew Palmer agreed at a meeting in Sofia. It became clear at the meeting that energy cooperation with the USA has the potential to increase Bulgaria’s energy security, including through diversification of the sources and the routes of the gas supplies. Premier Borissov and Matthew Palmer also discussed the European and North-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans. Boyko Borissov insisted that “NATO and the EU need to work closely together for better synergy in their communication with the countries from the region”.
