On February 13 we mark the World Radio Day. At the global level, radio remains the most widely consumed medium and has the unique ability to reach out the widest audience, irrespective of people’s educational level, social and economic status, gender and age.
The World Radio Day was marked for the first time in 2012. On November 3, 2011 UNESCO proclaimed February 13 as World Radio Day at its 36th General Assembly.
On the eve of the World Radio Day the Bulgarian National Radio held its annual Sirak Skitnik award ceremony where radio journalists are recognized for their significant contribution to the development of the medium.
