Minister of Defense wants rearmament to continue

Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov has criticized sharply the proposal of the leftist opposition in parliament that modernization of the army should stop at a time of crisis. According to the Minister, the socialists do not take into account the risks Bulgaria could face in the coming years.

Populism today would have dire consequences tomorrow. History teaches us that when a country does not have a strong defense, there are always external dangers that emerge. After each financial and economic crisis there is a sharp escalation of external risk, Minister Karakachanov said and gave as an example the 2008 crisis and the subsequent Arab revolutions and the war in Syria.
