Bulgaria will now be able to purchase military equipment and pay in instalments under new contracts with the USA. This is what the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency wrote to the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense. The opportunity to pay in instalments for new military acquisitions is provided to Bulgaria as the country already has contracts under the US Foreign Military Sales Program.

The lack of so-called "credit history" was among the reasons for the US to demand full payment in a previous deal for eight new F-16 fighter jets for Bulgaria. Last year Bulgaria paid about 2.2 billion leva (1.1 billion euros) for them, and a few days ago the US Air Force commissioned their production.
