In the midst of the coronavirus crisis Bulgaria’s electricity generation drops

Generation of electricity in Bulgaria has gone down since the beginning of the year by 8.32% compared to the 1 January, 2019 – 12 April, 2019 period.

Electricity System Operator data also register a drop in electric energy exports by 16%. For the period from the beginning of the year until 12 April the country has exported 2,283,696 MWh of electric energy whereas over the same period of 2019 exports amounted to 2,714,094 MWh. By contrast imports of electric energy over the same period have gone up by 79%, amounting to 1,468,294 MWh of electric energy.
