The presidents of Bulgaria and Serbia Rumen Radev and Aleksandar Vučić discussed, over the telephone, the measures taken to contain the coronavirus epidemic in Bulgaria and in Serbia, as well as the potential of bilateral cooperation for overcoming the social and economic crisis more quickly.

Recovery from the crisis ahead of other countries is essential for preventing a future wave of emigration once the travel restrictions are eased, the presidents of the two countries agreed. They pointed out that Bulgaria and Serbia are sustaining economic damages due to the restricted exports to Europe and that they will make maximum use of the potential of the “green corridors” for the transportation of goods and essential equipment.

Later, in a phone conversation President Radev discussed with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis the co-operation between Bulgaria and Romania in maintaining effective green corridors. Radev also raised the question of allowing exports of raw materials from Romania to Bulgaria, needed for the production of forage, which is expected by Bulgarian farmers.
