National measures are the first response to the contagion, but regional and global cooperation is essential to successfully address the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. This was stated by Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov before the online video conferencing meeting of the leaders of the countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI)
The crisis shows how connected and interdependent we are, not only in the EU, but also with partners from neighbouring regions, Borissov said. We need to find the most effective and good ways of helping our citizens and economies overcome the crisis and restore normal life as much as possible, Borissov added.
