In April Bulgarian car market shrank by 72.6%

Car sales in the EU, respectively in Bulgaria, collapsed in April by over 72%. Data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association from the first full month with restrictions against Covid-19 show that sales in the EU are declining by 76.3% on an annual basis. Compared to the previous month of March, the decline is over 55%.

The Bulgarian car market also shrank dramatically by 72.6%. In April, only 824 new cars were sold in the country. A year earlier, in April 2019, 3,008 new cars were registered. From January to April, the decline in sales was 41%. For the first four months of 2020, 6,751 cars were sold in comparison to 11,427 in 2019.
