The Prosecutor’s Office pressed charges against 10 people in connection with the import of hazardous waste from Italy. As we announced on May 29, Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Krasimir Zhivkov and brothers Plamen and Atanas Bobokov are among them. The Prosecution wants permanent arrest for Deputy Minister Zhivkov and one of the brothers. The second brother will be released on EUR 500,000 bail. A photo containing names of famous Bulgarians, including murdered people, was found in their homes. Large sums of money (EUR 51 million or more) were written next to the names. Zhivkov is suspected in aiding the businessmen in exporting and importing waste to and from Italy.
