The government will allocate 600,000 levs (about 307,000 euros) for the restoration, repair and maintenance of the Rila Monastery, one of the most important cultural monuments in Bulgaria. This was announced by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov after visiting the monastery and getting acquainted with its financial problems. Earlier, the monastery complained that it had not received the state subsidy by the beginning of June. The Rila Monastery has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1983.
