Bulgaria has no criteria for updating minimum wages: EC

Photo: BGNES

Bulgaria is one of the three EU countries which have not introduced, by law, criteria for the updating of minimum wages. The other two countries are Romania and Estonia.

This is indicated by a European Commission document which declares the launch of the second stage of consultations with the European TUs and employer organizations. The consultations are on how to ensure fair minimum wages for all workers in the EU. The first stage was in January when the Commission received replies from 23 EU-wide social partners. Based on the replies received, the Commission concluded that there is a need for further EU action.
