Bulgarian exports set a new record in 2019 totaling 33.9 billion USD and this country already ranks 60th in the world as in 2018 it held the 64th position.

Bulgaria ranks immediately after Angola (oil exports 98%) and before Algeria (oil exports 97%). Bulgaria hold the 20th position in the EU. According to NSI data, the growth in 2019 in comparison to 2018 is 4%.

The groups of goods with the largest share of exports (36%) are electrical equipment and electronics, energy carriers (fuels and electricity), machinery and apparatus, copper and copper products. The goods with the largest value volume in Bulgaria’s export list in 2019 were medium and heavy petroleum oils - 1,263 million USD with 21% growth compared to 2018. The analysis does not include export of defense equipment, as the NSI treats this information as confidential. According to expert estimates, Bulgaria has exported defense goods for at least 560 million USD.
