Bulgaria supports EU recovery plan: PM Borissov

Photo: BTA

“Bulgaria supports the EU recovery plan. A balanced compromise between grants and loans has been proposed,” said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov during a video conference of the European Council on the plan that includes a new multiannual financial framework and the “Next generation EU” instrument created in response to the challenges in the fight against the coronavirus.

However, Boyko Borissov pointed out that alongside the efforts to address the consequences of the pandemic, additional efforts are also needed for the traditional EU priorities with regard to the budget, with more attention given to the poorest regions with the aim of overcoming the deep social and economic problems in them, so that a long-term economic growth within the EU can be achieved.
