Minister of Sports greets Bulgarian athletes on International Olympic Day

Bulgaria's Minister of Sports Krasen Kralev has extended a greeting to Bulgarian athletes, coaches and sports fans on the occasion of the International Olympic Day and the Day of the Bulgarian Olympic Athletes. He stated Bulgaria was one of the 14 countries that participated in the first modern Olympics in Athens back in 1896 and thanked all the athletes and their coaches who defended the honour of Bulgaria at all Olympic Games across the decades.
So far, Bulgaria has won a total of 224 Olympic medals, of which 218 are from Summer Olympics. Bulgaria's Olympic gold amounts to 52 medals, as the most gold medals - a total of 10, were won by Bulgarian athletes at the Seoul Olympics in 1988. 
Of the sport disciplines, the champion in medals for Bulgarians is wrestling (classical and freestyle) - a total of 69 Olympic medals.
