The European Commission will present the 2020 Annual Rule of Law Report in September. The new European Rule of Law Mechanism will be applicable across all members of the European Union and will replace the monitoring on separate EU countries such as the former Cooperation and Verification Mechanism on Bulgaria and Romania. The report will cover issues related to the fight against corruption, freedom of media and pluralism and inter-institutional balances. Following the publication of the report in September, debates with the European Council and the European Parliament will be held.
