Between 30 and 40 tons of waste was buried illegally in the area of the former cooperative farm near the town of Cherven Bryag, Northwestern Bulgaria. The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the case. Experts are determining how and when the waste was buried and where it was delivered from. Pellets for batteries were found at the dunghill, but their country of origin is not clear yet. The soil is tested for radioactive substances. Later, the waste will be removed. According to investigators, the landfill emerged at least one year ago.
