The European Commission’s Executive Vice President for An Economy the Works for People Valdis Dombrovskis said he was following closely the protests in Bulgaria. However, Valdis Dombrovskis added that he would not make direct link between protests in this country and Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone. The Commission intends to monitor the implementation of the recommendations made to Croatia and Bulgaria through the horizontal mechanism of the rule of law which is introduced this year. Sofia made commitments to improve the insurance sector, the solvency framework, the fight against money laundering and the management of state-owned companies, Commissioner Dombrovskis added. In his view, Bulgaria will join the Eurozone in 2024 at the earliest.
