Number of Covid-19 cases in Bulgaria rises again

During the past 24 hours, the new cases of coronavirus infection in this country were 298, the Unified Information Portal shows. After 4,884 PCR tests performed in the country, the biggest number of confirmed new cases was in the capital city of Sofia - 92, in Plovdiv 38 and in Varna - 35. 106 people recovered from the disease, and four patients with confirmed coronavirus infection passed away.

EU summit in Brussels continues

EU leaders have been trying for a second day to agree on economic incentives to overcome the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic for the next 7 years, the BNR correspondent in Brussels reported. In a statement before today's discussions, PM Borissov said that the crisis was not over. He expressed his position on a unified European strategy regarding health and economic measures to overcome the pandemic crisis. Boyko Borissov also expressed hope that the leaders would also agree on the ratio of grants and loans.

Traffic to Greek border is intensive again

Due to the large number of Romanians traveling to Greece, traffic to the Kilata – Promachonas border checkpoint is heavy once again. The intensified control of all travelers through the only border crossing point available to tourists continues. The requirement to present a negative result from a PCR test does not stop the flow of people wishing to spend their vacation in Greece. The test for Covid -19 must be done within 72 hours before crossing the Bulgarian-Greek border. The result is required to be translated into English as well.

Because of pandemic many Varna residents postpone their weddings

Residents of Varna massively cancel their weddings due to the extraordinary situation. For May and June alone, canceled marriage events are over 65%, and many couples do not specify a new date at all. Therefore, in the usual months for weddings, ritual halls in Varna remain empty. According to Albena Ralcheva, a marriage organizer at the Ritual Hall in Varna, a very small percentage of couples move their weddings for next year. Speaking to BNT, she said safety requirements against Covid-19 were the main reason.
