After the meeting of the partners from the ruling coalition GERB – United Patriots, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has announced the new changes in the government.

Interior Minister Mladen Marinov will be replaced by Hristo Terziiski, a high-ranking officer in the police.

Marinov is an exceptional police officer, but there are mistakes in politics that are punishable, the prime minister argued. Borissov said that the actions of the police against the protesters, especially on the beach in Rosenets, did not correspond to his understanding of what the attitude towards protesting citizens should be.

The current Minister of Healthcare Kiril Ananiev will take over the post of the Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov. Goranovis released from office due to reduced control over the gambling commission, Borissov said.

The current Deputy Minister of Economy Lachezar Borisov will take over the post of Economy Minister fromits current holder Emil Karanikolov. The Prime Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the grants and bonuses that were distributed in the Ministry of Economy.

The prime minister further announced that after the end of the government's mandate, he would work on strengthening the GERB party because of mistakes and reduced control inside.

Measures to support all citizens affected by the Covid-19 crisis will be announced on Monday (July 27th), Borissov promised during the press conference at the Council of Ministers earlier today. Deputy Prime Minister Krasimir Karakachanov clarified that at the insistence of the United Patriots party, the government will rearrange some of its priorities. Among them are the care for the elderly, the Bulgarian communities abroad and the demographic crisis.
