Protesters gathered in the centre Sofia last night for the 20th time in an anti-government protest chanting “Resign!” and throwing green paintballs at the building of the Council of Ministers.

They then started on their traditional procession in the streets of the city. As they were blocking the intersection at Sofia University a car ran over the foot of one of the protesters. The driver accused the police of not having closed off the streets at the site of the protest. After a medical examination the protester returned to the demonstration.

Protests were also held in Bourgas, Plovdiv, Yambol and many other towns across the country.

“Those who work do not have time for protests.” That was how Prime Minister Boyko Borissov commented the events of the past days as he was conducting an inspection of a new road section.

A nationwide protest has been announced for 7 PM today to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. Before that, at 12 noon, protesters plan to block off the “Bulgaria” Boulevard-“Ivan Geshov” intersection in Sofia.
