The protests, the resignation of the government and early elections have the support of the public even though no clear alternatives or new leaders are, as yet, to be seen.
62% of Bulgarians support the protests, and 23.7% are against them. 58.9% say they are “for” the resignation of the government, 26.5% are of the opposite opinion. 50% want early elections, 34.1% are against.
These are the results of a national survey conducted at the beginning of June by Gallup agency. All major political formations come out of the situation created in the country as losers, possibly with the exception of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, while the smaller rivals come out as winners. In this situation “the parties that are small grow big”, the sociologists conclude.
GERB remains top of the list in potential support at this time with 14.5% of the votes (compared to 22.1% in June). The Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, is second with 13.9% (17.9% in June).
