The required 120 votes have been collected to submit a draft of a new Constitution. This was announced at a joint press conference by GERB and VMRO political parties. Earlier today, they agreed to include in the draft new Constitution, prepared by GERB, a preamble on the basic principles of statehood, relaxed conditions for obtaining Bulgarian citizenship of our compatriots abroad and recording a text that voting is the duty of everyone citizen.
The idea of a referendum on the VMRO's proposals, which are not included in the draft of a new Constitution, is being considered. These are the introduction of a minimum educational qualification for voting, expanding the powers of the president with a legislative initiative and the introduction of a no-confidence vote as well as compulsory army service, BNR reports.
