President Rumen Radev calls for immediate resignation of government

"The attempt to adopt a ridiculous but status-friendly Constitution with the power of money and under the protection of police shields is a criminal encroachment on the future of Bulgaria. The parliament continues with the attempt to make machine voting meaningless through changes in the Electoral Code, which would open possibilities for fraud at all subsequent elections". This was what President Rumen Radev said in connection with the events in Bulgaria in recent days.

"The actions of the ruling majority not only cause threat to civil peace. They deepen the crisis and turn Bulgaria hostage to its own political survival," President Radev added.

He condemned police violence used against the protesters and called on both protesters and the police to remain calm and not to succumb to provocations.

"The protest is the only possible action against the abduction of Bulgarian democracy. It is the duty of every Bulgarian citizen to say: «No to violence, repression and lawlessness!», the President pointed out and called on the immediate and unconditional resignation of the cabinet as the only way out of the crisis.
