Tsvetana Pironkova qualified for the third round of the US Open. The Bulgarian, for whom this is the first tournament after more than three years of absence, won against number 10 Garbiñe Muguruza (Spain) with 7: 5, 6: 3 for 84 minutes. The 32-year-old player from Plovdiv recorded her second victory in professional tennis since July 2017 at Wimbledon.
