Tax officials checked the office of the hypermarket chain for children and baby goods Hippoland, the spokesperson of the National Ravenue Agency Rosen Bachvarov confirmed in an interview for BNR. Other details regarding the inspection cannot be provided at the moment.

Media publications linked the inspection to the angry open letter of Hippoland’s owner Marian Kolev whose son was injured during the mass antigovernment protest on September 2.

Later, the Ministry of Interior said that the inspection was after signals about possible unfair trade practices. The check was ceased after a conversation between Bulgaria's Minister of Interior Hristo Terziyski and the manager of the company.
