After a comparatively high rate in August, in September Bulgaria entered a phase of a relatively diminished coronavirus infection rate, said Chief State Health Inspector and member of the National Operational Headquarters on Coronavirus Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev for the BNR.

For the moment, out of the EU countries Bulgaria is in 19th position in Covid-19 incidence which is below the average. In the past 14 days the coronavirus infection rate in the country has been 24.8 per 100,000. In the Balkans Serbia is the only country with a lower infection rate, whereas in Montenegro it is 256 per 100,000, in North Macedonia - 68, in Turkey - 27. Angel Kunchev stressed that despite the low infection rate achieved in the country, the anti-epidemic measures must still be observed, as the spread of the virus is a highly dynamic process.
