On September 17th, the Bulgarian Orthodox church honours the holy martyrs Faith, Hope and Love and their mother Sophia, and it is also the day on which Bulgaria's capital city celebrates its holiday. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the traditional celebrations will not take place this year.

On the occasion of the Day of Sofia, the Sofia Municipality will award outstanding personalities for remarkable achievements in the field of culture as the distinguished artists will be presented in a film on national television.

A solemn classical music concert will take place tonight on the A6 platform behind the National Palace of Culture in central Sofia. In addition, musicians will play in the subway, and open-air concerts will be held in several parts of the capital.

The Regional History Museum, the Museum under the Basilica Saint Sophia, the Sofia City Art Gallery and other municipal museums, as well as the Vrana Park and the Sofia zoo will work with free admission today.

The radio of the capital, Radio Sofia, which is part of the Bulgarian National Radio network, celebrates its 13th birthday today and its team will take to the streets with its mobile studio to feel the pulse of the city.
