Government denies claims about stopped EU funds

The European Commission regularly reimburses Bulgaria the sums that the Agriculture Fund transfers to farmers as direct payments and subsidies, the Fund has announced. The clarification came to answer rumors that Brussels has stopped 350 million euros for agriculture. For this year, reimbursed subsidies have reached 1 billion euros. The last transaction took place on September 3. All sums declared by the Agriculture Fund are refunded 100% and without delay, the Paying Agency says.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov wrote on his Facebook page: "I like to refute lies with facts. Apart from the fact that there is no money stopped for agriculture and no corruption in the absorption of European funds - we are now receiving the largest financial package to support farmers in Bulgaria."
