Covid-19 is not as dangerous for students as it is for those in contact with them
It is expected that gathering of people in schools will lead to the spread of the virus to a larger number of people. The big fear is that it may not be so dangerous for the children as it is for those in contact with them, immunologist Assoc. Prof. Velizar Shivarov has told BNT. Nevertheless, society should try to return to "a normal environment of communication and education," the expert says.
After the opening of schools, the epidemic will develop in the same way as in the rest of society. In the beginning there would be a higher frequency of cases, but infection among children is almost asymptomatic. Let there be no panic, the vice-president of the Bulgarian Medical Union, Dr. Nikolay Branzalov, has told bTV. He said he did not expect a second peak and wave of the pandemic in autumn and winter.
Bulgarian professor is head of work on therapy against Covid-19 in the United States
A team of American scientists, led by Bulgarian Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov of the University of Pittsburgh, is working on a promising therapy against Covid-19. It is based on the isolation of antibodies that block the virus. In a special interview for the Bulgarian National Radio, Prof. Dimitrov explained the principle of action of the therapy: “Our antibody binds to the virus very strongly and prevents the virus from entering the cells. When there is an antibody present, either before infection or after infection, it binds to the virus and it can no longer continue to infect cells. So, it can be used both to prevent infection and to treat already infected people.
