"The Covid-19 pandemic continues to be a severe public health emergency situation, both nationally and globally." These are the reasons behind the government's decision to extend the epidemic situation until November 30.
As of September 19, 18,733 patients and 753 deaths related to Covid-19 had been registered in Bulgaria. "The unfavorable development of the epidemic situation continues, due to high mortality from infections caused by the novel coronavirus, at the backdrop of declining morbidity and maintained level of hospital treatment of patients with moderate and severe clinical picture," the government decision reads.
The prolongation of the emergency epidemic situation is especially important for the protection of life and health of people at increased risk of severe infectious diseases – elderly people, cancer patients and those with chronic diseases, in the conditions of simultaneous spread of seasonal influenza and Covid-19.
