“Traditions” is no ordinary concert, it is a show that tells the story of Bulgaria’s singing traditions – from ancient times down to the present day,” says Nina Nikolina, singer, leader, music producer and conductor of the “Magical voices of Bulgaria.”
A singer with a pronounced interest in Bulgarian folklore, Nina Nikolina set up the vocal formation in 2017. After a series of successful concerts in Strasbourg, Berlin and elsewhere, the “Magical voices…” now have a new show ready, featuring acapella performances of the some of the most famous original folk songs of Bulgaria.
The premiere is tonight, 29 September, at the open-air theatre of Flora cultural centre in Bourgas. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture.
“It is a big challenge for me to find and to sing old Bulgarian songs, to seek ways, together with exceptional singers like Tanya Parvanova, Biserka Pilarska, Atanaska Boneva, to perform these songs which are so familiar to generations of Bulgarians,” the singer says further.
The new project also includes educational videos which will be made available, free of charge, to music teachers at all levels of the school system in Bulgaria.
