Grand National Uprising IV begins, protesters block road to Danube Bridge

The Grand National Uprising 4 has begun downtown Sofia. Protesters are demanding the resignation of Bulgaria’s government and this country’s Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. Traffic at Tsar Osvoboditel Avenue in the so-called Triangle of Power has been blocked. The situation is calm at 5 pm. There is enhanced Police presence in the area, reporters of BNR inform.

A protest car rally against this country’s government is taking place in the city of Ruse. Traffic at the roundabout near Danube Bridge border crossing has been blocked. The blockade is expected to be lifted at 6 pm.

Bulgarians abroad are also declaring support for the protests in Bulgaria. Protest rallies are expected to be held today in London and Hague. On Sunday, protests are to take place in Mannheim, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Brussels, London and Montreal. Bulgarians living abroad made a video in which they are asking the government and the Prosecutor’s Office questions in different languages formlulated by the Democracy, Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights Monitoring Group (DRFMG).
