Literature Night is an event featuring, once again, meetings with interesting authors, translators and actors who will present high-class reading to the book-reading public.

This is the 9^th edition of the initiative, and it kicks off at 6 PM on 7 October, when, at exactly the same time (up until 9 PM), there will be readings of literary works by contemporary European authors in different locations in Sofia, as well as in 13 other towns in the country.

Main organizers of the event are the embassies and culture institutes of the European countries in Bulgaria, the European Commission representation in Bulgaria, the Children’s Books foundation. The Bulgarian National Radio is media partner to this major cultural event.

Literature Night offers a unique opportunity to find books in unusual places and to get to know the works and the ideas of hitherto unfamiliar authors. The focus this year is once again on language and literary diversity. At the so-called readers’ nests readers will be able to hear excerpts of books translated from German, French, Danish, Italian, Serbian, Polish, English, Irish, Portuguese, Macedonian,  Slovenian, Hungarian, Swedish and Czech. Literature Night also demonstrates the role played by translators from different languages, as well as by publishers of contemporary literature.
