The first specialized language diagnostics has been created in schools for children with different mother tongues in Bulgaria, the Together in Class Foundation has announced. The diagnostics thoroughly examines the needs of students for support related to language acquisition and already developed abilities, BTA reports.

The diagnostic tool also includes illustrations that provoke the children's verbal reaction without feeling like they are being tested but having a pleasant experience. The initiative builds on an already successful project in kindergartens, implemented by organizations from Bulgaria, Romania and Germany.
According to the teachers, the lack of knowledge of the Bulgarian language is among the most common reasons why these children lag behind their peers in school.
