National Patient Organization to cover transportation costs of blood donors

The National Patient Organization will be in charge of the transportation costs to Sofia as well as two-day hotel accommodation of persons from the whole country wishing to donate blood plasma. This was stated for BNT by Chavdar Botev, a haematologist at the National Centre for Haematology and a representative of the National Patient Organization. 
The procedure for blood plasma donation lasts about an hour and a half, Botev explained.
One of the options for treating Covid-19 is through blood plasma from persons who have already been infected and then got cured from Covid-19. 
Currently, blood plasma in Bulgaria can be donated only in Sofia. 
A week ago, it became clear that there are very few people wishing to donate blood plasma and there is a shortage of some blood types.
